The
Ambassador Of Goodwill Travels To Hawaii
May 24, 2003 Irvin Poole retired from Truck Company 2 in 1971, he was named the Ambassador of Goodwill by Chief Thompson over a year ago. Irvin travels to parades with his red-white and blue VW bug he loves to show off with DCFD proudly displayed on the doors. When on vacation he always takes along his full dress uniform which proudly displays the best damn fire department in the world. He recently was in Hawaii where he had the thrill of making Don Ho an honorary member of our fine department. Here is how it went says Irvin, "Don Ho called me to the stage and I made the presentation and he was so |

| happy . He made a nice speech
about the firefighters and things went very well. In fact he called
me at home last night and told me how delighted he was and nothing had
ever pleased him more. The pictures tell the story. He went
off stage and changed his shirt for the one I gave him and finished the
show with it on". Irvin also toured a firehouse or two while in Hawaii, check out the Ladder Company with a surf board. Great job Irvin, thanks for the pictures. |
