Firefighters Brave The Elements To Help Support The Special Olympics

January 27, 2007

Nineteen DC Firefighters were among hundreds who took the plunge into the frigid Chesapeake Bay on Saturday, January 27th.

The event "The Polar Bear Plunge" is sponsored by the Maryland State Police and this year raised over a million dollars to help support the Special Olympics.  It took place just north of the Bay Bridge on Kent Island.  DC Firefighters manned a team of brave somewhat crazy firemen who took the plunge and raised over $ 7500.00 to be donated on their behalf.

Job well done by everyone for such a good cause.
