November 27, 2011: Story & Photos By Elliot J. Goodman

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, many gathered to celebrate 100 years of exemplary service to the citizens of Washington, D.C. and the Petworth community.

The very large gathering consisted of current, past and retired members of Engine 24, current members of the DCFD, the citizens of the neighborhood they serve, and city officials. A few words were spoken on the companies history and the very large contribution they have made to our city. After the formal part of the day, it was then time to have a great lunch and enjoy the chance to meet and greet all that came to celebrate this great day and of course hear those legendary stories of the past and current.

A very special "Congratulations" goes to Captain Chris Sefton and the firefighters assigned to Engine 24 for their extreme hard work and effort in making this day so great. Also to the retired gang that showed up. Some true retired DCFD legends were there today.
