D.C. firefighters
battled a second alarm that erupted in a row house
in the Shaw neighborhood on Friday night, July 13th.
Units arrived to find
fire on the second floor and cockloft of a two story
row, occupied dwelling at 1419 5th Street N.W. A
second alarm was sounded as the fire began to spread
through the cocklofts to the exposure buildings.
A vigorous interior
attack protected the exposures from further
extension and quickly knocked down the flames in the
original fire building. Searches proved negative and
there were no reported injuries.
