Two Alarm Apartment Fire In Southeast

July 7, 2007...Alan Etter

Units were called to service at 12:04 AM on July 7th – for the house fire, first reported in the 2900 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast.  Additional callers correctly adjusted the address to 2943 Nelson Place, Southeast.

First responders found fire on the second floor and roof of a two-story structure.  Because of the heavily occupied building and the need for additional manpower to put down a heavy volume of fire, a second alarm was sounded.  As the second alarm units began to stage, first due companies began bringing the fire under control.

EMS treated two civilians on the scene.  Both refused transport.  The cause is still being determined. click here for photo album
