D.C. firefighters
took to the water in force Thursday, June 7th, after
receiving reports of a possible drowning in the
Anacostia River near Kingman Island.
A full water
rescue assignment was dispatched after a credible
witness reported seeing a homeless man swimming but
never resurfacing.
Rescue Squad's 1
and 3 launched their four rescue boats to search the
shallow waters of the river near RFK stadium. D.C.'s
fireboats also responded, but were stymied by the low
tide and shallow draft in the area.
An extensive
search of the area proved negative. |
