D.C. firefighters come to the aid of their brethren in Prince Georges County at a two alarm blaze that raged in a garden apartment on Thursday, May 10th.

A District box alarm was sounded for smoke coming from the roof of 3800 Southern Avenue S.E. Within minutes of that response, PG sounded their box for an apartment fire in the 3900 block of Southern Avenue.

District Units arrived on the scene to find the smoke billowing over 3800 Southern Avenue came from the county fire across the street. Faced with heavy fire showing from an occupied three story garden apartment, D.C. companies went to work as the Prince Georges units were arriving on the scene.

The county incident commander immediately sounded a second alarm as both jurisdictions worked together to battle the blaze roaring from a first floor apartment.

Their combined efforts resulted in the fire being knocked down in short order, with only minor extension above.
