Third battalion firefighters battled a cockloft fire that threatened two commercial occupancies in Southeast on Saturday night, November 11th.

Box alarm companies arrived to find fire showing from the roof area at 2931 King Avenue S.E. The flames were burning in the concealed space over a liquor store and Chinese restaurant.

A Working Fire Dispatch was sounded as truck companies and Squad 3 began to open both the roof and facade of the two establishments, exposing and extinguishing the spreading blaze.

The fire was finally contained before it could spread further into a large storage building behind the two stores. No injuries were reported.
