Six Rescued From Early Morning Apartment Fire

Units responded with Battalion 3 for the apartment fire, 4244 6th St., SE.  Fire was evident on the first floor of the three-story apartment building as the box alarm arrived and the working fire dispatch was sounded. 

Several people were standing at their windows waiting for firefighters to get ground ladders to them.  In all, six people were rescued by members of Engines 25 & 33 and Truck 8.  Three people, a woman and two children, were transported with what was called minor smoke inhalation. 

A damage estimate was set at $70,000.  The cause of the fire is undetermined.  Several people were displaced.
