An aggressive
interior attack kept a house fire in check in the American University
section of D.C.
January 27, 2006
Engine 31 arrived on
the scene of the dinner hour box alarm at 4412 Davenport Street N.W.
to encounter a heavy smoke condition in the block. Further size up
indicated a 2.5 story unoccupied group house with thick smoke pumping
from the roof and eaves.
Handlines pushed
inside and quickly began hitting the flames, which involved a portion
of the attic.
Combined with truck work
opening the roof and pulling ceilings, the blaze was confined to the area
involved upon arrival.
A Working Fire Dispatch
was sounded to assist. Searches were negative, and there were no reported
injuries.
