Serious MVC in N.W.

October 16, 2009 by Vito Maggiolo

E14 was dispatched to kansas Ave. and Blair Road N.W. for a MVA. When they arrived on the scene they found an SUV that had rolled over and back on to it's wheels. There was a person trapped inside with powerlines down next to the vehicle. They immediately called for the full assignment which brought RS2, T11, BFC 4, EMS 4 and Medic 24. The powerlines were far enough away from the SUV that crews were able to work on the vehicle. Rescue Squad 2 extricated the patient which was then transported to Med-Star by M24.

Car Crashes Into Whole Foods

October 1, 2009 by Vito Maggiolo

One person suffered injuries after their vehicle careened into a wall in the parking garage of a Glover Park area supermarket Thursday evening, October 1st.

A box alarm was initially dispatched to the incident at the Whole Foods store at 2323 Wisconsin Avenue NW at about 6:30 PM. Additional calls indicated the car might have gone into an elevator shaft, and the cave-in task force was subsequently assigned.

First arriving units found a sedan that had lost control on the P-1 below grade garage level, plowing into a flower display, than striking and damaging a wall.

The lone occupant of the vehicle was transported from the scene with minor injuries. Special Operations personnel investigated further and determined that there were no structural integrity issues, allowing most units to be placed in service.
