Charles “Chuck” Russell Barchers, 57, of Rockbridge Baths died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at home.
A son of Billy Charles Barchers of Virginia Beach and the late Louise Barchers, he was born in Washington, D.C., on March 22, 1952. He dedicated his life to serving others, first in the United States Marine Corps and then 30 and a half years in the D.C. Fire Department. He had recently retired in April 2008 and was looking forward to enjoying his other personal projects and interests.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Sue Barchers; three children, Christy Ciarametaro, Cathy Barchers and Curtis Barchers; and two sisters, Linda Matsushige and Donna Briscoe. The Rev. Deborah Klein will conduct the funeral on June 2 at 2 p.m. at New Providence Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. A viewing is being held on June 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
