Despite fire showing on arrival, 5th Battalion firefighters made quick work of a blaze in the far reaches of Northwest DC Sunday evening, August 30th.
The blaze involved a second floor bedroom in a two story detached dwelling at 3529 Quesada Street NW. The initial box alarm was dispatched around 9:45 PM and a working fire dispatch was also sounded.
Fire was confined to the room of origin, and no injuries were reported.

DC firefighters battled a blaze that damaged a Sheperd Park neighborhood home on Sunday morning, August 30th.
The call was received around 8:45 AM for the reported house on fire at 1313 Geranium Street NW. Units arrived to find flames in the rear porch of the occupied, two story, detached dwelling.
The fire was confined to the rear porch and quickly extinguished. One firefighter suffered a hand injury and was transported to the hospital.

| Workers Rescued From Scaffolding |

A window washer hanging perilously from a rope nine stories above ground was rescued Thursday morning after the scaffolding he was working on came loose at a D.C. office building.
Deputy Fire Chief Ken Crosswhite said the man was working Thursday morning between the ninth and 11th floors in an inner atrium of the building on Connecticut Avenue in northwest Washington. He said the scaffolding was hanging vertically when rescuers arrived.
Fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said the man wasn't injured

| Engine 27 Arrives to Find Fire Showing |

E-27 arrived with fire showing at 1626 17th St. S.E., after receiving conflicting addresses units arrived with fire coming from the roof and a working fire dispatch was sounded. The fire was well attended by fire buffs from all over, attending the fire buffs convention sponsored by the Friendship Fire Assn., and as expected Elliot's group was first on the scene.

At approximately 2030 on August 9th a fire broke out in an apartment complex at 735 3rd Street N.E.
Fire involved all floors and extended through the roof of a 3 story row townhouse. The complex could only be accessed through an alley. The blaze threatened both exposures but did not extend.
